Objective To promote the tourism development of Foz do Iguaçu and the region, through articulation, publicity campaigns, training for professionals in the sector and investments in infrastructure.

Main resultsin 2017 Increased tourist visits by 8.91% and institutional visits by 9.5%. There were 568,518 tourist visits and 50,601 institutional visits. The resources obtained from the tourist activity pay for the operation of the complex, guaranteeing the direct and indirect jobs of about 220 people. Itaipu Tourist Complex received the Travelers' Choice 2017 award in the category of "reference points", ranking third in Brazil and sixth in South America. Trip Advisor awarded the 2017 Certificate of Excellence to the Plant and the attractions Biological Refuge, Ecomuseum, Astronomical Pole and Kattamaram.

Objective To promote projects and programs aimed at social insertion, job and income generation, the distribution of scientific and technological knowledge and regional development, taking advantage of the technical knowledge generated by the construction and operation of the plant.

Main resultsin 2017 Support to Itaipu in energy storage research with nickel-sodium batteries, which resulted in the development of a battery prototype. The development of the second generation of the sodium battery is planned for the 2018-2019 biennium. Studies on dam safety have replicated three-dimensional structures of civil, mechanical and water and sewage sectors systems structures of Itaipu, facilitating the maintenance activities of these components. Educational services were provided at Foz do Iguaçu Book Fair, which had a total audience of 100 thousand people in 11 days of the event. Sustainable tourism projects; economic and sustainable development; and sustainable technologies for the territory were also implemented.

[203-2] Itaiguapy Health Foundation – Ministro da Costa Cavalcanti Hospital
Objective Provide high-level preventive and curative medical and hospital care to the community, through agreements with the public and private health network, and provide conditions for the training and improvement of medical and health personnel.

Beneficiated Public Population of nine municipalities in the western region of Paraná, totaling about 430 thousand inhabitants, in addition to approximately 250 thousand Brazilians residing in Paraguay who seek medical care in Foz do Iguaçu.

Main resultsin 2017 There were more than 485 thousand SUS (Unified Health System) patients, including: 5,688 emergency room patients, 40,760 outpatient visits, 1,853 surgeries performed, 3,287 births and 18,431 patients attended at the Oncology Center.

Objective Stimulate, strengthen and enhance the practice of citizenship with employees, through voluntary service, as well as provide support to the Third Sector. In addition to enhancing public policies in the region, the program acts in line with the goals proposed by the UN in the Sustainable Development Objectives and assesses how activities are contributing to the global agenda.

Main resultsin 2017 Conducting research on volunteering in the company. The results and the 366 responses received are guiding the restructuring of the program. The management and impact measurement processes for Itaipu's corporate volunteerism were presented at the Regional Conference of the International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE) held in October in Guatemala. Execution of the 12th edition of the Bank of Projects, which selected eight projects from five social institutions in Foz do Iguaçu, two from Medianeira and one from Santa Helena, which received up to BRL 30,000 to execute the proposals.

Citizen and solidary promotion of the voluntary services of employees

Objective To support health actions in the area of influence of Itaipu, a border region between Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina, in line with the respective public sector policies.

Main resultsin 2017 Training of approximately 700 health professionals, who participated in the regional and trinational early detection and sensitization of the community about Hanseniasis/leprosy in Foz do Iguaçu, Toledo and Caaguazú in Paraguay. The 2nd International Seminar on Men's Health focused on the Pre-Natal of the Partner, with the participation of more than 200 managers, professionals and academics in the health area. Workshop on "Planting Health: Strategies for Increasing the Quality of Cultivation, Development and Production of Medicinal and Phytotherapeutic Plants" for 65 health professionals, academics and producers of medicinal plants and phytotherapy.

Objective To strengthen the Community Council of Vila C as social equipment of the community and environment.

Beneficiated Public Communities of Vila C, Foz do Iguaçu, which is composed of about 12 neighborhoods, with an estimated population of 30 thousand inhabitants. Legal assistance is free for people in need in Foz.

Main resultsin 2017 About 1,350 people/month attended in training courses and extra-curricular sports, leisure and culture activities, such as judo, computer, ballet and guitar. The legal office carried out around 1900 consultations, hearings and follow-up of cases in the last 12 months.

Main resultsin 2017 Articulation with municipalities so that the cooperative of garbage collectors of Marechal Cândido Rondon was contracted to provide environmental services to the municipality and the renewal of environmental service provision agreement of the Association of Collectors of Santa Helena. Joint development of basin management and solidary collection agreements to improve infrastructure, equipment, environmental education, hiring of technicians and acquisition of trucks in 26 municipalities in the area of influence. Socio-productive inclusion of recyclable materials collectors

Objective Development actions, in cooperation with legally competent bodies and support organizations, in the areas of infrastructure, agriculture, food security and cultural area for two Guarani villages in the municipality of Diamante do Oeste and one in São Miguel do Iguaçu.

Main resultsin 2017 Obtaining certification, as organic production by the Ecovida Agroecology Network, from the collective planting of the Ava-Diamante Group, with 6 families from the Tekoha Añetete and Tekoha Itamarã communities. Agricultural production and marketing of 12,172.50 kg of food and 1,663 kg of fish in tanks (Tekoha Ocoy), 25,290 kg of corn, 769 kg of honey (Tekoha Itamarã) and 20,688 kg of corn, 67,149 kg of cassava, 842 kg of honey (Tekoha Añetete). The Tekoha Ocoy Community traded BRL 20,344 in artisanal products. Improvement of infrastructure with 3 km of internal road gravel at Tekoha Itamarã and 6 km at Tekoha Añetete.

Main resultsin 2017 Funding from the BNDES Social Fund for the structuring of enterprises formed by low-income groups. Of the more than 30 collectives (family farmers, beekeepers, collectors, quilombolas, natives) who submitted support proposals, eight are in the approval flow and two projects are in execution with agreements in the amount of BRL 4,633,327.60, for the acquisition of vehicles, machinery, equipment, works, products for regulatory stock and technical services. These funds directly benefited 348 people associated with the supported ventures. Other benefits are: professionalization of internal processes, opening of new markets, legalization of structures and products and, especially, the generation of employment and income.

Objective To reintegrate inmates of the penitentiary system into society through employability, professional training courses and legal, psychological, social, pedagogical and cultural assistance.

Objective To create conditions for the improvement of the quality of life of Itaipu's employees and of the less favored segments of society in the region, especially the low-income and socially vulnerable population, based on knowledge about the sound administration of financial resources.

Main resultsin 2017 Approximately 36,500 people were attended, among elementary school students, teachers and parents of students. There were about 2 thousand students of the municipal public network. To reach these results, 59 teachers were mobilized in 41 schools in 8 municipalities of Paraná.

[413-1, 203-2] Program for the Protection of Children and Adolescents (PABP)
Objective To articulate and promote actions and campaigns with the aim of encouraging the defense of the rights of children and adolescents and contribute to strengthening the fight against child labor, sexual exploitation and other forms of violence against children in the region of the Triple Boundary and of interest of Itaipu.

Objective To develop extra-curricular sports activities to promote the citizenship and to initiate athlete’s career in diverse modalities.
Beneficiated Public Children and young people between 10 and 23 years of age, public school students and athletes with disabilities above 16 years of age.

Main resultsin 2017 Participation of 160 students and 20 PcD athletes, one athlete of the project was summoned to be part of the Brazilian National School Athletics Team and obtained the fourth best place in the 100 meters competition in the FISEC World Championship. The Paralympic athlete broke the dart throw record at the International Open Athletics Championship, in the city of Rio de Janeiro - RJ. The Institute had four representatives in the Brazil Athletics Trophy. Gold medal in the hammer throw and 3rd place in the decathlon of the Brazilian Under-18 Championship.

[413-1, 203-2] Sailing is Necessary
Objective To develop the practice of yachting in in Foz do Iguaçu, forming athletes able to participate in national and international competitions.
Beneficiated Public Children and adolescents between 8 and 18 years of age, who study in the public school and live in the Três Lagoas neighborhood.
Partners Iate Clube Lago de Itaipu (Icli).
Main resultsin 2017 A total of 120 students participate in the project on a monthly basis, highlighting national and international championships. One of the youngsters was among the top five in the Junior Sailing World Championship and was twice champion of the Brazilian Standard Laser Championship and 4.7.

[413-1, 203-2] Boys of the Lake
Objective To develop the practice of canoeing among children and adolescents in situations of social vulnerability, improve school performance, discover and encourage new high performance sports talent that may represent the country in national and international competitions.
Beneficiated Public Children and adolescents (from 7 to 18 years of age) students from the public school, residents of Vila C and Morumbi neighborhoods, in Foz do Iguaçu.
Partners Brazilian Confederation of Canoeing, Meninos do Lago Institute [Boys of the Lake Institute] (Imel), National Bank of Economic and Social Development (BNDES) and Foz do Iguaçu City Hall.
Main resultsin 2017 T100 students trained in the Itaipu Channel, some of them representing Brazil in national and international championships. The project will be expanded and will double the number of young people served. The canoeists of the project will receive a scholarship from the municipality of Foz do Iguaçu. Ana Sátila was gold in the Italian stage of the World Cup of Canoeing, and silver and bronze in the Canoe Slalom World Championship in France. There were 14 medals, one of gold by athlete Felipe Borges, in the Pan-American and South American Slalom Canoe Championship of Costa Rica.
