Corporate Management

All decisions related to business management, electricity service planning, audit plans, and other strategic matters are results of understandings and agreements between the Brazilian and Paraguayan representatives in the Board of Directors and Executive Board. In very important matters, such as the approval of the Financial Statements, there is a requirement for prior opinions of Eletrobras and Ande.

The Strategic Plan makes up, together with the tactical and operational plans, the Business Plan, provided for in the Corporate Planning and Control System (SPCE), which was defined in the Company's bylaws as the official management model of Itaipu.

The Strategic Plan defines the Vision, the Fundamental Policies and Guidelines and the Strategic Objectives. The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is currently used as the main tool for the elaboration and execution of the plan, in which strategic objectives and goals are defined and published through tactical guidelines. In addition to the BSC, Process Management and Project Management methodologies are also used, which together support the operational plan, which is defined within a five year horizon and is composed of programs and actions where financial resources are allocated.

In 2017, the review of the Business Plan changed the focus of internal processes, aiming at improving management practices and corporate governance, reinforcing Itaipu's commitment to operational excellence and sustainable development.
