Itaipu demands in all its procurement processes that contracted companies respect and ensure human and labor rights.

Thus, suppliers that appear in the National Registry File of Companies Not in Good Standing of the Federal Comptroller General's Office are not contracted.

In order to sign contracts, Itaipu requires suppliers to follow their Supplier Code of Conduct. Companies that do not comply with the requirements presented, for example, regarding the non-exploitation of child labor and the use of practices similar to slave labor, are punished with contractual suspension, as well as other appropriate measures.

The Supplier Evaluation System (SAF) analyzes contractors based on criteria and sustainability aspects contained in ISO 14000 and 26000, OHSAS 18001, SA 8000 and the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs).
