[413-1] Environmental Education
Objective To bring concepts and principles of environmental education to people and social groups to act, educate and contribute to the education of other individuals for the construction of sustainable societies.

Main resultsin 2017 There were 28,000 people from educational institutions assisted in the educational tourism action at the Biological Refuge and Ecomuseum. 966 participants in the activities of the 30th anniversary event of the Ecomuseum. 365 education professionals from the 29 municipalities of the Paraná Basin 3 participated in 30 "Integrative Health in the School" workshops. Internally, the actions reached 125 employees of Itaipu through socio- environmental technical visits of the Paraná Basin 3 and 280 children and adolescents of the projects Boys of the Lake, Sailing is Necessary and Youth Path were attended in environmental education activities.

[413-1] Production of Fish in Our Waters
Objective To strengthen regional development by increasing annual fish production in the Itaipu reservoir and in closed systems.

Beneficiated Public Fishermen, settlers and the indigenous community of the Paraná Basin Hydrographic Basin 3 (BP3).
Partners Colonies and associations of artisanal professional fishermen, indigenous communities, city halls and technical assistance institutions.
Main resultsin 2017 Growth in fishery production at an annual rate near 10%, higher than the rates observed in other animal production chains (pigs, poultry, cattle), which has seldom exceeded 5% per year, even in favorable conditions. An important factor was the increase in per capita consumption of fish by the Brazilian. There were also greater gains from the sale of fish (value added), despite the lack of sanitary certification related to the regional commercialization of family production.

[413-1] Valorization of Institutional and Regional Patrimony
Objective To recover, preserve, value and disseminate the historical-cultural, technical-scientific and environmental patrimony of Itaipu and the region, becoming a true instrument of communication and education among present, past and future generations.

Main resultsin 2017 Execution of exhibitions "Poeta Alice", "Meu coração polaco voltou [My Polish heart returned]", "Ecomuseu 30 anos" and "Ney Braga: 100 years of history in Paraná", receiving more than 43,668 visitors, 27,324 tourists and 16,344 institutional visits. The event in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Ecomuseum, II Ociupe o Museu, was attended by more than 1,000 people. Technical advisory services were provided to the museums of Cascavel, Céu azul and Pato Bragado, as well as contributing to the implementation of the Cascavel and Toledo Cultures Councils. Completion of the construction of the technical reserve, conditioning and cataloging of the more than 1,500 items of botanical, entomological and archaeological collections.

[413-1] Sustainable Rural Development
Objective To support and strengthen family farming, encouraging sustainable agricultural production, promoting responsible consumption and local development.

Beneficiated Public Family farmers, indigenous people, quilombolas and land reform settlers.
Partners Institutions of technical assistance and research, universities, NGOs, federal and state government, prefectures and organizations of family farmers.
Main resultsin 2017 There were increases in the number of organic farmers from 100 to 135, from organized groups of producing families (Ecovida Network) from 4 to 16, agroecological fairs and technical assistance in settlements from 130 to 400 families. Three new agroindustries were inaugurated and there was labeling, branding, nutritional information, product standardization for 127 agroindustries. With the support of Itaipu, a Study Group of the Direct Organic Planting System (SPDO) was formed, the South Brazilian Association of Homeopathy - ABHP SUL was formalized, the technical course in Agroindustry in Vera Cruz do Oeste was opened and access was granted to family farming cooperatives to resources of the Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply of Paraná (SEAB) for collective projects. The Medicinal Plants Garden donated 30,615 seedlings from 86 different species to 29 municipalities and 98 institutions/farmers. Demonstration units were set up in pedagogical gardens in 56 institutions.
